Hello Backers -

Heritage Boot production was finished earlier this month as planned.  As we await stock arrival at our distribution centers, we wanted to share with you all more photos from our October factory visit.

Please also take a moment to verify the shipping address you've entered at the-heritage-boot-by-ridgemont.backerkit.com.  Correct addresses will ensure the most timely fulfillment of your order.

Here are three images of a boot moving through the stitching process. Any of you with sewing experience know that this is not an easy task. Ridgemont uses thick leather, and we require that the stitch counts are the same on every pair. These are extremely skilled craftspeople, and you can see that these boots are truly handmade.

Once the upper is complete it is “lasted”, or put in a form which gives it the proper shape and fit. This particular machine isn’t that common in factories, and it ensures that the toe box is perfectly formed. It’s an extra step, but we think it’s worth it.

Here’s a finished upper, ready to be married to its outsole. After that, the pair goes through final inspection, packaging, and bulk packing. Adventure awaits!

The Heritage boots are now in the cutting phase of production. From here, things move really quickly. As we’ve mentioned before, what takes the longest is the pre-production stuff. Now that the leather is in the factory along with all of the various other materials and components, and all of the prep has been done, it’s all downhill from here.

Each of these factory workers is stamping out a component of your Heritage boots. They take great care in making sure that pieces are cut accurately and with minimal material waste.

Hello Backers -

Hope you've all been well over the last couple of months.  We're still on target for a late November ship, and wanted to give you a few details of where we are in the production process.

The production leathers have been successfully matched to the sample shoes, and all leather has been finished by the tannery.  The cutting dies are made and ready for production.  All other upper materials and the soles are also ready to go.

At this point, all that's left is the actual cutting, stitching, and assembly of the shoes.  While that may seem surprising, it's the quickest part of the production process.  Preparation of the aforementioned materials accounts for the majority of the lead time.

We at Ridgemont are excited to get these boots out to you all next month.  Please feel welcome to contact us if we may assist in the interim.  As ever, thank you for your support in bringing to life the Heritage Boot.

Shipping Update
almost 7 years ago – Wed, Aug 09, 2017 at 01:25:03 AM

Firstly, thank you again for the awesome support for our Heritage Kickstarter project, it surpassed our wildest expectations with over 1700 pairs sold to backers in 55 countries.   We’re now truly global!  However, due to this overwhelming success we know that we will be unable to achieve the anticipated delivery date.  A combination of the number of orders exceeding our expectations and the logistics of receiving and collating all of the surveys has meant a delay in being able to place our factory production order.  This has subsequently meant that we were unable to order the raw materials in time for our planned production window.

This Kickstarter campaign has been a tremendously positive experience for us and confirms our belief in what we are striving to do.  The number of you that were willing to back us is truly overwhelming, and we’re super bummed to have to delay your shipment, but we wanted to be upfront straight away and let you know that we feel that if we rush the pre-production process, the end result will suffer.  We’ll continue to try to make up time along the way and push for a sooner delivery date but right now we anticipate delivering the boots in the latter part of November.

Ridgemont is committed to keeping you all in the loop throughout the process with frequent updates and images, so we hope you’ll hang in there with us.  Our experience with this manufacturer tells us that once they schedule our production and give us an ex-factory date, they usually hit it.  So we feel confident that this will be the only bad news we have to send your way.

Thanks and apologies again,

Alex Hall Ridgemont CEO

PS - here's a behind the scenes look at our final pre-production samples.  We're extremely pleased with the results and wanted to pass on to all of you.
